Mambo Grill

A true celebration of culinary delights, for over eight years, the Mambo Grill has been recognized as one of Chicago's best and most beloved restaurants. Owner, Susan Frasca was driven by a vision. "We celebrate the tradition and culture of Latin cuisine from all around the world. Our menu is a journey from the Rio Grande to the Tierra Del Fuego, with jaunts through the Caribbean in between." Authentic black and white Cuban photographs hanging on the walls , spacious wooden booths, sultry Latin jazz and the notes of a Brazilian Samba is the perfect backdrop to a not to be missed dining experience. With its intimate "welcome all" feel and lively upbeat interior, unleashing your "inner Latin," is just one flawless Mojito away.

Susan Frasca

The Chicago Tribune's dining critic, Phil Vettel, named Susan Frasca "1998's Quickest Empire Builder." The Frasca Hospitality Group is Chicago’s largest female-owned restaurant conglomerate and an important presence on the Chicagoland restaurant scene. The Sun-Times food critic, Pat Bruno, called Frasca one of "Chicago's most creative restaurateurs." Professional critics and numerous loyal patrons alike know that Mambo Grill and The Kinzie Chophouse , featuring the best steaks in the city ( 400 N Wells St.), are two of Chicago's best restaurants and a clear reflection of Frasca's vision and attention to detail.

The Mambo Grill's comfortable and colorful interior really sets the stage for a great dining experience. In 1998 when Susan purchased the Mambo Grill, she transformed a run-of-the-mill Mexican/Cuban restaurant to the extraordinary epicurean Chicago sensation that it is today. With walls painted a rich buttery yellow, high ceilings boldly painted to resemble something of a backgammon board and an outdoor sidewalk cafe, tropically painted with yellow, teal, maroon and purple hues; it is definitely a work of art along with a great restaurant. Mambo Grill also holds the distinction of carrying the largest rum and tequila selection in the country with 64 rums from 21 countries and 37 blue agave tequilas. "I saw a need for a fabulous dining spot that married the exotic old world flavors with a contemporary twist," says Frasca. The Mambo Grill is at the top of the restaurant list for both locals and Chicago visitors alike.
